Data agency OAG has revealed the world’s 20 busiest air routes, with Asia dominating the list.
The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore route came in at number one, with seven carriers operating 30,537 flights between March 2017 and February 2018 – as many as 84 services per day.
The top 20 busiest routes average 35 scheduled flights a day.
An astounding 14 of the routes operate to, from, or within Asia, with flights connecting Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul and Osaka to other parts of the region featuring strongly.
Coming in at number 14 is Heathrow-Dublin, despite the route being served by only two carriers – British Airways and Aer Lingus. Between them, the airlines operated 14,390 flights over the year, representing nearly 2 million passengers.
